New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India has officially started production of its upcoming flagship SUV, the MG Majestor, at its manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. The new model will sit at the top of MG’s internal combustion engine lineup and is expected to replace the outgoing Gloster.
The Majestor will compete in the premium full-size SUV segment against established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq. Pre-bookings for the SUV are already open with a token amount of ₹41,000, while its expected price range is between ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom). The official launch date is yet to be confirmed.
The SUV follows a traditional body-on-frame architecture with a bold and upright design. It features a large front grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps and signature daytime running lights. The design is complemented by chunky body cladding, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, side steps and connected LED tail-lamps, giving it both rugged and modern appeal.
Inside, the Majestor offers a premium dark-themed interior with leatherette upholstery, layered dashboard design and dual digital displays. It comes in both six- and seven-seat configurations. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, smartphone wireless connectivity, a 12-speaker JBL sound system and three-zone climate control.
Comfort features include ventilated and massaging front seats, powered seat adjustment, wireless charging, a powered tailgate and a 220V rear power outlet. The SUV also gets MG’s i-Smart 2.0 connected technology with over 75 smart features, developed in partnership with Reliance Jio.
Powering the Majestor is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215bhp and 478.5Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options. The 4’4 version includes terrain modes, locking differentials, crawl control and off-road assist features.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS and electronic stability systems. The SUV also offers Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking, positioning it among the most tech-loaded SUVs in its segment.
