In view of the scorching heat and drinking water crisis in Haryana, the state government has adopted a tough stance. In fact, giving a strong message of not tolerating negligence in the Public Health Department, leaves of all officers and employees have been canceled with immediate effect. Departmental Minister Ranveer Gangwa, while taking this important decision in a review meeting, made it clear that there should not be any interruption in drinking water supply during the summer season and it should continue smoothly. Department orders have also been issued in this regard.
In fact, Minister Gangwa gave strict instructions to the officers in the meeting that they should not work only by sitting in offices, but should stay in the field and solve the problems of the common people immediately. Immediate action will be taken against officials who are lax in the drinking water system. In this series, two SDOs and two JEs have been suspended for negligence. Apart from this, a charge sheet has been issued against two other officers and their reply has been sought.
The suspended officers include SDO and JE of Hansi and Charkhi Dadri. At the same time, SDO and JE of Adampur of Hisar district have been chargesheeted. This action has been taken due to complaints received against these officers and their lack of promptness in supplying drinking water.
Minister Ranveer Gangwa also took cognizance of the report of the ongoing protest in Chanaut village of Hansi regarding the drinking water problem. Based on the report received by them, investigation revealed that the concerned responsible officials did not show the expected speed in solving the problem, due to which the villagers had to face problems for a long time. Taking cognizance of this serious negligence, the Minister directed to suspend the concerned SDO and JE of Hansi with immediate effect.
Similarly, the poor condition of Adampur water reservoir in Hisar district and the continuous problems in drinking water supply there were also seriously considered in the meeting. Expressing strong displeasure over this, the Minister issued instructions to chargesheet the concerned SDO and JE and seek answers from them. He stressed that regular cleaning of water bodies, proper maintenance of machines, working condition of motors and ensuring quality of drinking water is the primary and most important responsibility of the departmental officers.
The Minister also reminded the officials that water bodies are not just water storage centers, but they are a part of a very important system to the daily needs of millions of people. In such a situation, there should not be any kind of dirt, chaos or technical fault there, because it directly impacts the general public.
In fact, Ranveer Gangwa instructed all the XEN, SDO and JE level officers to visit their workplaces regularly. They will have to monitor the drinking water supply system themselves and ensure that clean drinking water reaches every household. He said in clear words that officers should not work only sitting within the walls of their offices, but should go to villages and cities and take stock of the actual ground situation and establish direct communication with the people.
He further directed that if there is any fault in any tube well, motor, pipeline, boosting station or water house, immediate action should be taken without any delay. If drinking water crisis arises in any area due to any kind of delay in the repair work, then the concerned officer will be held fully responsible for it and strictest action will be taken against him.
