Tezzbuzz Desk – A big change has been seen in the politics of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah has resigned from the post of Chief Minister and now the power of the state is believed to be in the hands of DK Shivakumar. However, this change was being discussed in political circles for a long time and it was believed that its script had been written in the year 2023 itself.
In fact, Congress had won a landslide victory in the 2023 assembly elections. After this, there was a fierce tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of Chief Minister. At that time there were discussions that a power sharing formula had been decided, under which Siddaramaiah would be the Chief Minister for the first two and a half years and Shiv Kumar would get a chance for the next two and a half years. However, the Congress high command or the two leaders never confirmed this publicly.
In the last three years, speculations regarding change of leadership increased several times within Karnataka Congress, but DK Shivakumar adopted a very restrained attitude every time. He never publicly made any statement against the party line and kept saying that the final decision would be taken by the party high command. This strategy now appears to be his biggest political strength.
While being the Deputy CM in the government, Shivkumar maintained a strong hold on both the organization and administration. On several occasions, his supporters raised the demand to make him the Chief Minister, but he did not show any open conflict. Political experts believe that this restraint further strengthened the confidence of the Delhi leadership in him.
Even in the recent developments, DK Shivakumar maintained public respect for Siddaramaiah. There was no bitterness of any kind in the meetings and statements of the two leaders. This is being considered as a well-thought-out strategy of the Congress, so that the change of power can be completed without any major controversy.
Political analysts say that this time Congress has learned from its past mistakes. Earlier, the party had to suffer heavy losses due to leadership crisis and internal strife in states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Assam. But in Karnataka the party maintained a balance and controlled the process of leadership change.
Now the formalities of DK Shivkumar becoming the Chief Minister are awaited. It is believed that soon the Congress leadership can put the final seal on this.
