15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has again made a big splash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Vaibhav has broken the record of fastest 1000 runs in IPL of a legend like Andre Russell. He took just 440 balls to reach this milestone. Whereas Russell had played 545 balls to cross the thousand run mark. Vaibhav broke Russell’s record during his explosive innings of 96 off 47 balls in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday (May 29).
Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav is playing his second IPL season and is breaking the records of the giants every day. Vaibhav has crossed the 1000 run mark in his 23rd innings. In terms of innings, he is jointly second in terms of being the fastest to reach this milestone. Shaun Marsh had completed 1000 runs in 21 innings. After him was Lendl Simmons (23 innings), whom Vaibhav has equaled.
In Qualifier 2, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, RR scored 214 runs at the loss of 6 wickets, thanks to the explosive innings of Vaibhav and Donovan Ferreira. Vaibhav was struggling initially but he did not throw away his wicket and scored 96 runs in 47 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 sixes. Ferreira scored unbeaten 38 runs in 11 balls, which included 2 fours and 4 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 45 runs in 35 balls.
Vaibhav had scored 97 runs in 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator. Now, after playing another big innings, he has taken a big lead in the race for Orange Cap. Vaibhav has scored 776 runs in the current season. He has reached the fourth position in terms of scoring most runs in a single IPL season. If RR team defeats GT and makes it to the finals, then Vaibhav will have a chance to complete 800 runs.
