As June 2026 begins, customers planning important banking transactions should take note of the upcoming holiday calendar released by the central bank. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across the country will observe a combination of regional holidays, religious observances, weekends, and mandatory second and fourth Saturday closures throughout the month.
Whether you need to deposit a cheque, visit a branch for documentation, or complete any in-person banking task, checking the holiday schedule in advance can help you avoid unnecessary delays.
Customers can breathe easy during the first week of the month. Between June 1 and June 6, 2026, there are no national or regional banking holidays scheduled in any state.
This means branches of major public and private sector banks, including SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, and others, are expected to function normally during this period.
The only closure during the first week will occur on June 7, which falls on a Sunday. As per standard banking rules, all banks across India will remain closed on that day.
The RBI has listed a total of 11 bank holidays during June 2026. These include weekly offs as well as region-specific festivals and commemorative occasions observed in certain states and union territories.

Customers who need branch-based services such as account opening, document verification, locker access, cheque deposits, demand drafts, or loan-related paperwork should schedule their visits carefully by referring to the holiday calendar.
Since holiday schedules vary by state and city, it is advisable to confirm local branch timings before visiting. Proper planning can help avoid inconvenience, especially during the latter half of June when several regional holidays are scheduled.
Bank holidays may differ across states depending on local festivals and administrative notifications. Customers should verify holiday details with their respective bank branches or the RBI holiday calendar before making travel or transaction plans.
