The Indonesia U-19 national team is set to showcase their performance when they face Myanmar.
Indonesia will take on Myanmar in the opening Group A match of the ASEAN U-19 Championship, also known as the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup.
The live broadcast of the Indonesia vs Myanmar match will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026.
The kick-off for Indonesia vs Myanmar is scheduled at 20:00 WIB.
The Indonesia U-19 team’s fixture in the 2026 ASEAN U-19 Championship will also be available for live streaming.
The match will be held at the North Sumatra Main Stadium in Deli Serdang.
The Indonesia U-19 squad is targeting a win to build momentum and confidence for their remaining Group A fixtures.
A victory against Myanmar would serve as a morale booster ahead of their matches against Timor Leste and Vietnam.
Head coach Nova Arianto emphasized that he would not underestimate Myanmar’s strength.
According to Nova, Myanmar arrived at the tournament well-prepared, having undergone an intensive training camp in Thailand and participated in the domestic U-21 competition.
“We still view Myanmar as a very good team because they also conducted a training camp in Thailand,” said Nova Arianto during a press conference on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
“I heard and I believe they have been well-prepared, including the fact that many players from the Myanmar U-19 squad have competed in the U-21 league in Myanmar,” he added.
Nova expressed his desire for Indonesia U-19 to win every match in the ASEAN U-19 Championship, stressing consistency as the key to lifting the trophy at the end of the tournament.
“Yes, as I’ve said before, my target is to win every match,” Nova stated.
“Becoming champions is our ultimate goal, but I want the players to stay focused on each game and aim to win them all,” he concluded.
The Indonesia U-19 national team enters the tournament as the defending champion.
In the previous edition held in Surabaya, Indonesia U-19 defeated Thailand in the final with a decisive goal from Jens Raven.
However, Nova Arianto insists that he does not want his players to feel pressured by their status as defending champions.
“Personally, of course, I want to be the best, but I don’t want to put extra pressure on the players. I just ask them to focus on winning every match,” Nova said.
“As mentioned earlier by Vietnam, we will give 100 percent of what we have and see how far our abilities can take us.”
“It will serve as our evaluation material, and I hope the players won’t feel burdened by our status as defending champions. As I said before, I prefer to focus on the process — starting with Myanmar, then Timor Leste and Vietnam,” he continued.
“So, if you ask about my personal target, of course, I want to be the best and win every match,” Nova added.
“Regarding the U-17 World Cup, it’s not really my area to comment on, but in football, anything can happen. I believe preparations have been made thoroughly,” he said.
“Although we fell just short last time, I’m confident that in the upcoming U-17 qualifiers, which will take place around September, we’ll have another chance to qualify for the AFC Cup and even the World Cup,” he concluded.
