SURYAMALANG.COM, MALANG CITY – The 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner.
The grand football event is set to kick off on June 9, 2026.
Many fans and experts have already started predicting which nation will lift the trophy in this prestigious four-year tournament.
Among them is Arema FC coach Marcos Santos, who is backing Brazil to triumph at the 2026 World Cup.
“Of course, I will support Brazil,” he said confidently.
“Brazil will win,” stated Marcos after guiding Arema FC to a 3-1 victory over PSIM Yogyakarta in their final 2025/2026 Super League match on Friday (May 22, 2026).
Wearing a cheerful smile, Marcos Santos expressed strong confidence in his prediction for Brazil.
It’s no surprise, considering the 46-year-old coach was born in Brazil and firmly believes the Selecao will reclaim the World Cup title this year.
While joking with reporters, Marcos Santos added that he would fully support Indonesia if they had qualified for the World Cup.
Unfortunately, the Garuda national team failed to secure a spot after losing in the fourth round of the Asian Zone Qualifiers.
“If Indonesia had qualified for the World Cup, of course I would support Indonesia,” he said.
“But since Indonesia isn’t there, I’m supporting Brazil,” he added with a laugh during the press conference.
Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil are heading into the 2026 World Cup—set to be hosted across Canada, the United States, and Mexico—with strong confidence.
The former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager has named a 26-man squad for the tournament.
One of the main highlights is Neymar, the superstar who has been recalled to strengthen the Selecao.
According to recent updates, Neymar will once again wear the iconic number 10 jersey that has become synonymous with his presence in the national team.
In the 2026 World Cup, Brazil have been drawn into Group C alongside Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti.
The Samba team will open their campaign on June 14, 2026, against Morocco, followed by matches against Haiti on June 20 and Scotland on June 25.
Given the depth of their squad, the Selecao are heavily favoured to dominate their group.
Brazil’s roster includes several top European stars such as Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, and Marquinhos—who recently lifted the Champions League trophy with Paris Saint-Germain.
Carlo Ancelotti is also determined to lead Brazil back to World Cup glory, something they last achieved 24 years ago.
Back then, Brazil defeated Germany 2-0 in the 2002 World Cup held in Japan and South Korea.
That legendary Brazilian squad featured superstars like Ronaldo and Rivaldo, who shone brightly during the tournament.
