Lifestyle Desk – Jackfruit is the best vegetable available in summer. If prepared well, it tastes like mutton and chicken. But often it is used in making vegetable or biryani. But its kebabs are also very tasty. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, these kebabs taste great with tea or green chutney. So let us know how to make it.
Material
Raw jackfruit – 2 cups (boiled and mashed)
Potato-2 medium (boiled and mashed)
Onion-1(finely chopped)
Green chilli-2 (finely chopped)
Ginger-garlic paste-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala-1/2 tsp
Roasted cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Gram flour or breadcrumbs-2 tbsp
Green Coriander – 2 tbsp (chopped)
salt-as per taste
Oil for shallow frying
Method
- Boil raw jackfruit thoroughly and mash it after it cools down.
- In a large bowl, add mashed jackfruit, potato, onion, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, all the spices, green coriander and gram flour/breadcrumbs and mix well.
- Shape the mixture into small kebabs or tikkis. Heat a pan and pour some oil on it.
- Cook the kebabs on medium flame until they become golden and crisp on both sides. Take out the prepared kebabs in a plate.
- Serve jackfruit kebabs hot with green chutney, tamarind chutney or curd-mint dip. If you want, you can also serve them with Rumali Roti or Paratha.
tip
If the mixture seems too soft then add some more gram flour or breadcrumbs, this will prevent the kebabs from breaking and will become nicely crunchy.
