Arsenal centre-back William Saliba (25) has undergone medical examinations to assess the severity of an injury that he reportedly worsened during Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final, where Arsenal lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties. Reports from France on Monday indicated that Saliba might be sidelined for several weeks due to an unspecified issue, raising concerns about his participation in the upcoming FIFA World Cup for France.
According to RMC Sport, Saliba is currently dealing with back discomfort, but the results from his recent tests have turned out to be less serious than initially feared. As a result, the defender is expected to join the France national team camp as soon as Tuesday. The Arsenal player’s condition will continue to be monitored in the coming days, and while he may sit out one or both of the friendly fixtures scheduled before the team departs for the World Cup, his chances of being fit for the tournament remain positive.
Les Bleus are set to host Ivory Coast on Thursday before taking on Northern Ireland next Monday as part of their warm-up matches ahead of the global competition.
