One of the participants of the 2026 World Cup has received FIFA’s approval to offer free tickets to its fans who attend matches at the stadium.
It is no secret that ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup have been one of the main talking points ahead of the tournament.
The issue has sparked widespread debate due to the high cost of tickets for the quadrennial event.
The situation became even more complicated after FIFA introduced a new system known as dynamic pricing, which automatically increases ticket prices based on demand.
According to BBC Sport, this dynamic pricing model has caused ticket prices for 90 out of 104 matches in the competition to rise by about 34 percent.
For example, the price of final match tickets on reseller platforms has reached as high as 2 million US dollars, equivalent to around 35 billion Indonesian rupiah.
As a result, public criticism forced FIFA to introduce a new ticket category called the supporter entry tier, priced at 60 US dollars or roughly 1 million rupiah at current exchange rates.
Amid the ongoing controversy over soaring ticket prices, one 2026 World Cup participant has taken a completely different approach by offering free tickets to its supporters attending matches in person.
The team providing free tickets to its fans is none other than the Saudi Arabian national team.
According to Yahoo Sport, the Saudi Arabian government announced this initiative through its Embassy in the United States.
In a post on the X platform, the Saudi Arabian Embassy revealed that free tickets would be offered to Green Falcons supporters to help boost the team’s morale during matches.
“On this occasion, Saudi Arabia is offering free tickets to fans of the Saudi National Team who are in the United States,” the Embassy’s statement read.
“We wish our national team the best as they proudly represent the Kingdom with passion and unwavering national support,” the post continued.
FIFA has officially endorsed the Saudi Arabian government’s decision to accommodate its national team’s supporters.
With this policy, fans of the team known as Al-Akhdar can save a significant amount of money while attending matches in the US.
Reports suggest that this free ticket programme could help Saudi supporters save around 3,000 US dollars, or approximately 53 million rupiah, for match attendance expenses.
Saudi Arabia is scheduled to face Uruguay, Spain, and Cape Verde during the group stage in the United States.
In addition to this free ticket initiative, the Saudi Arabian national team has also announced its 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup. The list is as follows:
