Even with the presidential elections fast approaching, Real Madrid have not slowed down their activity in the transfer market.

The club are actively working on strengthening their squad for the upcoming season, and the left-back position has become a particular area of concern. Both Álvaro Carreras and Fran García have struggled to meet expectations, prompting the management to explore alternatives.

Reports in recent days have linked Real Madrid with a potential move for Dutch international Denzel Dumfries, and it now appears that the club are ready to take decisive action.

According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid are seriously considering a summer move for Dumfries, aiming to bolster their defensive options on the left flank.

The Spanish giants are reportedly preparing to submit their first formal bid for the Inter Milan full-back, who will represent the Netherlands in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This move could prove crucial for Real Madrid, as the team urgently need a reliable alternative to García and Carreras. The latter has endured an inconsistent debut campaign since his return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy continues to battle persistent injury issues, casting doubt over his long-term future with the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Real Madrid’s interest in Dumfries, revealing that the defender’s contract with Inter Milan includes a €25 million release clause.

Romano further noted that Real Madrid are already familiar with the financial terms of Dumfries’ deal at Inter, which could simplify the negotiation process significantly.

Should Los Blancos decide to trigger the full release clause, they would not need to engage in lengthy talks with Inter Milan, a club that remains keen to retain its defensive assets this summer.

However, Dumfries is not the only full-back on Real Madrid’s radar. The club are also closely monitoring the progress of Iván Fresneda and Pedro Porro as part of their broader defensive recruitment strategy.
