PEKANBARU - PSPS Pekanbaru legend Miskardi believes that France will be one of the standout teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to him, modern football has become more structured, which in turn enhances the overall quality of the matches.
Speaking to Tribunpekanbaru.com, the founder of Pekanbaru City Soccer School stated that apart from France, the South American powerhouse Argentina will also be a team capable of making a significant impact at the 2026 World Cup.
He further mentioned that Spain, with its highly competitive domestic league, will also be among the nations to watch. Miskardi emphasized that France has grown into a footballing giant over recent years.
He noted that the recent UEFA Champions League triumph by Paris Saint-Germain serves as a benchmark for the strength of the French league, which has been producing many young talents.
"With so many great players, it all depends on how the coach manages to unite the individual egos within the national team," Miskardi explained.
He also praised Spain for their strong footballing philosophy, which is clearly reflected in the competitive nature of their domestic league.
According to Miskardi, Spain’s distinctive style of play will make them a formidable force at the 2026 World Cup.
Discussing the evolution of modern football, Miskardi pointed out that the game has become more systematised because every aspect can now be measured.
"In essence, the game is now neatly organised through well-defined tactics, which can be clearly seen on the pitch," he said.
However, he expressed concern that it has become increasingly difficult to find players who stand out purely on individual skill, such as Lionel Messi, who is known for his exceptional personal abilities.
"Currently, among the new generation of young players, Yamin Lamal stands out. He possesses the potential to bring back individual brilliance to the game in the future," Miskardi concluded. (Tribun Pekanbaru/Budi Rahmat)
