The future of Marcus Rashford at Barcelona is increasingly uncertain, with rising friction between the Catalan giants and Manchester United threatening to strain their relationship.

As reported by SPORT, Manchester United are said to be growing frustrated with Barcelona’s stance on making Rashford’s move permanent. The English club is reportedly even contemplating severing ties with the Spanish side if the impasse continues.

What initially seemed like a straightforward transfer process has now escalated into a disagreement over financial terms, leaving both clubs in a difficult position ahead of the upcoming season.

Despite the growing tension, Rashford himself remains determined to continue his journey at Barcelona. The forward believes that staying in Spain offers him the best chance to rebuild his form and confidence after an encouraging loan spell.

According to the report, Manchester United believe that the conditions for Rashford’s permanent transfer were already set during the initial loan agreement.

The Premier League club had expected Barcelona to trigger the previously discussed €30 million purchase clause and finalise the deal without further negotiations.

However, Barcelona are now attempting to renegotiate the fee and adjust the structure of the deal, a move that has not been well received at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have made their stance clear — they are not open to another loan extension, nor do they want a payment plan spread over several instalments.

The club insists that the agreed-upon amount must be honoured if Barcelona wish to retain Rashford on a permanent basis.

Complicating matters further, Barcelona recently made a substantial investment in Anthony Gordon, tightening their financial flexibility.

Though talks have become strained, Barcelona do hold one key advantage — Rashford’s clear preference to remain at Camp Nou.

The English forward has no plans to abandon his goal of extending his stay in Spain, and his commitment could play a crucial role as negotiations continue in the coming weeks.

From Barcelona’s perspective, the club is seeking the most favourable financial terms before committing to another large expenditure, especially given their recent spending.

Nevertheless, if relations between the two clubs continue to deteriorate, Barcelona may find Manchester United a far more difficult negotiating partner than they anticipated.
