Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers is reportedly open to a potential summer transfer to Arsenal, despite also attracting interest from Manchester United.
After ending a 22-year wait to win the Premier League under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal are targeting attacking reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.
Arteta’s men narrowly missed out on a historic double after losing 4-3 on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final held in Budapest on Saturday night.
The Gunners are expected to strengthen in four key areas this summer, with a new striker and a left-sided attacker among their main priorities. Rogers has emerged as one of the players on their radar.
Known for his versatility, Rogers can operate as an attacking midfielder behind the main striker, on the left flank, or even as a central forward when required.
According to Jacob Tanswell of The Athletic, there is growing expectation that Rogers will depart Aston Villa this summer. However, any potential deal is complicated by Middlesbrough’s 20% sell-on clause from his previous transfer.
Tanswell posted: “There is an expectation from multiple observers that Morgan Rogers will leave #AVFC this summer. But senior club sources state they are intent on keeping the 23-year-old, and with five years left on his contract, they hold a strong position. Any offer is complicated by Middlesbrough having a 20% sell-on clause.”
Meanwhile, BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel reports that Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi are also on Arsenal’s shortlist of attacking targets alongside Rogers.
Alvarez could command a transfer fee of up to £120 million, with Barcelona also expressing interest in the Argentine forward. Both Rogers and Kroupi are expected to cost Arsenal upwards of £80 million each.
Mokbel adds that while Rogers is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium, there are doubts within the club about whether he should be a top priority signing.
The BBC Sport journalist explained: “A move for Rogers has been discussed, but with Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze already capable of filling central attacking roles, there have been questions about whether pursuing the England international is necessary.”
He added: “However, Rogers’ ability to play on the left has been recognised as a valuable attribute. Arsenal’s interest in the 23-year-old is genuine, though Manchester United are also closely monitoring his situation.”
Multiple sources have confirmed that Rogers is open to joining Arsenal ahead of the 2026–27 season, setting up a potential transfer battle between two of England’s biggest clubs.
