Thirty Indian nationals were among 52 people arrested during a US federal operation targeting individuals living illegally in the country and working as commercial truck drivers. Conducted in Arizona's Yuma Sector, Operation Checkmate led to the arrest of 36 semi-truck drivers. Authorities said most held invalid work authorisation documents and will be deported in accordance with federal law.
About 30 individuals from India, found to be living in the U.S. illegally and working as commercial truck drivers, have been arrested as part of a federal operation and will soon be deported.
52 Individuals Arrested During Arizona Operation
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement on Monday (June 1, 2026) that during the week of May 11-15, Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector in Arizona arrested 52 individuals during ‘Operation Checkmate’ for being in the US illegally, including 36 who were found to be driving semi-trucks.
