Frans Putros recently completed his stint with Persib Bandung after 34 weeks of competition in the BRI Super League 2025/26, emerging as champions and completing a remarkable hat-trick of titles.

Putros’s name is among the 26 players officially announced by the Iraq National Team to compete in the final round of the 2026 World Cup.

Earlier, the Iraq-Danish defender was also part of the provisional squad that attended a training camp in Spain as part of the team's preparations.

Persib Bandung’s defender, Frans Putros, received a sudden call-up from the Iraq Football Association (IFA), prompting his temporary departure from Indonesia.

Putros will join the Iraq National Team to compete in the intercontinental play-off round of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico.

According to a letter signed by IFA Secretary General, Eng. Mohammed Farhan Obaid, permission was requested for Putros to join the Iraq National Team’s training camp in Monterrey, Mexico, from March 23 to April 2, 2026.

The training camp in Monterrey is part of Iraq’s preparation for the intercontinental play-off match of the 2026 World Cup.

After eliminating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the fifth round of the Asian zone, Iraq advanced directly to the Path 2 final, where they will face the winner between Bolivia and Suriname on March 31, 2026.

Frans Putros is included in the list of 26 players taken by coach Graham Arnold to Mexico this week.

For Putros, this is his first call-up in 2026 after a brief absence from representing Iraq in the fifth round of the Asian zone qualifiers.
