Antigua, June 3:
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has revealed its 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against Sri Lanka, marking the return of Shimron Hetmyer to the ODI setup. His inclusion is part of CWI’s continued preparations for the 50-Over World Cup scheduled for next year.
According to CWI, Hetmyer will link up with the squad ahead of the third and final fixture. The squad also features the comeback of fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who has been out of action since July 2025 due to a back injury, and spinner Gudakesh Motie, who missed the away series in New Zealand last November.
Joseph is set to make his first international appearance since Australia’s tour last year, having fully recovered from his back problem. The series, which will take place from June 3 to June 8 at Sabina Park in Jamaica, marks the beginning of a vital phase in West Indies’ campaign to secure automatic qualification for the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Under the leadership of captain Shai Hope, the West Indies will also aim to continue their impressive unbeaten streak in home ODI series, targeting a fifth consecutive series win after their last success against Pakistan in August of the previous year.
Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed optimism ahead of the series, stating that the team’s strong performances at home have significantly lifted morale as they prepare to face a competitive Sri Lankan side.
