La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly making plans to secure the signing of Manchester City defender Joško Gvardiol during the upcoming summer transfer window.
This development follows the appointment of new manager José Mourinho, who has expressed a clear interest in bringing Gvardiol into his squad for the next season.
Real Madrid have already prioritised strengthening their defence ahead of the summer. In the past 48 hours, the club's management at the Santiago Bernabéu has finalised deals for Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries.
However, despite these reinforcements, Mourinho is reportedly still not fully convinced about the depth and quality of his defensive options in the Spanish capital.
Consequently, the Portuguese tactician is now focusing on recruiting additional defensive strength, particularly on the left side of the backline.
According to transfer journalist Alberto Pereiro, “Mourinho has asked for Gvardiol! Florentino believes he’s the best among all the defenders presented to him, even better than the two who have already been signed. They are determined to go for him, no matter the obstacles!”
This indicates that Real Madrid are ready to make a strong push to bring the Croatian international to the Bernabéu, as Mourinho looks to shape a formidable defensive unit for the upcoming campaign.
