Suryakumar Yadav: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has completely made up its mind to remove Suryakumar Yadav from the captaincy in T20 International, for which the new captain will also be announced soon. Team India had won the T20 World Cup title played in the months of February and March this year under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, but his form with the bat was not very good in the tournament. Now BCCI wants to announce the new captain before the T20 series to be played in Ireland at the end of June and then England in July, in which the name of Shreyas Iyer is considered to be at the forefront of the race to become the next captain.

Surya’s poor form became a major reason for him losing the captaincy.
Suryakumar Yadav, who led Team India to win the T20 World Cup under his captaincy, will not only be removed from this responsibility but there is also a situation of suspense regarding his place in the team. According to the report of news agency PTI, a BCCI source told them that after discussing the matter with the selection committee, BCCI and the head coach of Team India, it has been decided that now Team India should move forward in T20 under the leadership of the new captain. Team India definitely won the World Cup under the captaincy of Surya, but keeping in mind his form and future, now the time has come to move forward.

Along with Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Verma also joins the race to become captain.
Among the two names leading in the race to become the new T20 captain of Team India in place of Suryakumar Yadav, one name is Shreyas Iyer and the other name is Tilak Verma. In its statement, BCCI source has described both these players as the frontrunners in the race for captaincy. Even though Shreyas Iyer was not a part of the T20 World Cup 2026 due to injury, he has an excellent record in this format. In the last few years, Tilak Verma has also proved himself as a match-winning player, in which he has been given the responsibility of captaincy for the India-A squad going on the tour of Sri Lanka. However, both the players have not yet handled the responsibility of captaincy for Team India in a single match at the international level.
