A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Muzaffarpur district in Bihar, where a severe fire erupted in the ICU of 'Prasad Hospital' early Thursday morning. This tragic event has resulted in the deaths of at least three patients due to suffocation and burns. The hospital premises were filled with panic and chaos following the incident.

According to initial reports from the hospital administration, the fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the ICU ward. The flames quickly escalated, filling the entire ICU with thick black smoke, which severely hampered rescue efforts and the evacuation of patients.

Official Confirmation and Response

The District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur confirmed the fatalities, stating, 'We received information about the fire at the hospital early in the morning. At least three individuals have lost their lives in this incident.' He noted that approximately 13 to 15 patients were being treated in the ICU and have since been transferred to other hospitals by their families.

The District Magistrate added, 'We are attempting to contact the relatives of the patients. The fire has been extinguished, and necessary legal actions are underway.'

Investigation Underway

The hospital administration suspects that the fire was initially caused by a short circuit in the ICU ward. The rapid spread of the fire filled the ICU with smoke, complicating the evacuation of patients. Authorities reported that a rescue operation was launched immediately upon receiving news of the incident.

The hospital management stated that they are fully cooperating with the authorities and that an investigation into the incident has commenced. Officials mentioned that information regarding some patients is still being gathered, and thus, the death toll could potentially rise.
