TRIBUNPEKANBARU.COM, PEKANBARU – The 2026 World Cup is just around the corner, and the excitement is already spreading across various regions, including the City of Bertuah.

As has become a tradition, public viewing events (Nobar) for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will once again add colour to every match broadcast on television.

For passionate football fans, these viewing parties feel even more thrilling when they wear jerseys of their favourite teams.

As a result, demand for World Cup jerseys has started to rise.

Suroto, the manager of Mj Design, a garment business located on Jalan Kubang Raya in Pekanbaru, revealed that many people have already inquired about the football shirts.

“But it’s not like it used to be. Since so many people are now selling online, we’re finding it hard to compete in the market,” he said on Monday (1 June 2026).

Suroto also sells products through social media, although he has not yet ventured into online marketplaces.

Nevertheless, the upcoming World Cup has had a positive impact on his sales, especially with the increase in local football tournaments that have boosted demand for local team jerseys.

So far, Suroto has not yet started producing replica World Cup jerseys; he only begins making them once there are confirmed orders.

“We’ll print and sew them once we receive an order,” he explained.

The replica World Cup jerseys are priced starting at Rp 150,000.

“There have already been a lot of inquiries, including requests for jerseys from African national teams,” Suroto added.

He hopes that this year’s World Cup season will bring a positive boost to the local garment industry, especially as the football community in Pekanbaru continues to grow.
