Desk: Maruti Suzuki on Thursday unveiled India’s first flex-fuel car. The company says that this car will reduce the country’s dependence on crude oil coming from outside and will play a big role in reducing pollution. On the occasion of this special launch, Maruti Suzuki MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said that the flex-fuel Wagon R is not just a new car, but it is a new chapter in India’s energy sector. Maruti Suzuki’s share in the ‘clean energy’ segment of the Indian car market is more than 50%. Now by launching the new WagonR BioFlex, the company has entered a new segment. The company hopes that this will further increase their market dominance. This car has come at a time when the Indian government is emphasizing on increasing the amount of ethanol in petrol. Companies like Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp have already introduced flex-fuel motorcycles, but in the case of cars, Maruti Suzuki has become the first brand to introduce this technology.

The engine of this car and its important parts have been changed in such a way that it can run on E85 petrol. E85 petrol means a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. This technical change made in the engine makes this car absolutely ready for the future, because the Indian government is planning to continuously increase the amount of ethanol in petrol in the coming years.

In appearance, Maruti Suzuki WagonR Flex Fuel is exactly like the normal model currently sold. In the name of change, only new name and body graphics (stickers) have been given. ‘BioFlex’ is written on the rear side of the car, which makes it different from the common model. There are new graphics on the sides of the car. Apart from this, no changes have been made in the exterior or interior cabin of the car.
