Google Gemini Thinking Levels— Tech giant Google has released a major platform upgrade for its Gemini AI models in select global markets including India. The company has started rolling out the ‘Thinking Levels’ feature on both mobile and web platforms. This new update is being made available to all free and paid users using Android, iOS apps and browser versions, giving users more accurate and deeply researched answers than before.
Vice President (VP) of Gemini and AI Studio at Google officially announced this big change on social media platform X. After this new update, Gemini app will now take some time on the backend instead of responding to users’ queries immediately. This process will work just like a human being thinks deeply before answering a complex question. The company hopes that this change will see a big improvement in the quality of answers to coding, mathematical problems and complex logical questions.
This new thinking mode will mainly work on Google’s three major AI models, which include Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite, Gemini 3.5 Flash and Gemini 3.1 Pro. Users will have the option to choose from three different thinking levels to suit their needs, allowing them to decide how detailed or immediate a response they want.
The biggest feature of this entire upgrade is its ‘Extended Thinking’ mode. Typically, AI chatbots start generating answers as soon as you press enter, which often misses out on deeper research. But when this new mode is turned on, Gemini will take some extra time before showing the final response to the user. During this time, the capacity of data processing and logical checking in the backend will increase, due to which the possibility of getting wrong or misleading information (AI Hallucinations) will be reduced to a great extent.
This update is important for Indian users because now they will be able to easily perform complex tasks like debugging coding, analyzing long documents or understanding a complex subject on their smartphones. Giving free users access to this advanced reasoning ability is considered a big step from Google. In the coming days, this feature will become fully active on the devices of Indian users. Users will have to update the Gemini app to the latest version by visiting Google Play Store of their Android or App Store of iPhone.
