On hearing the name of raita, most people think of cucumber, boondi, mint or pineapple raita. In summer, this dish made from curd not only enhances the taste of food but also cools the body. But have you ever eaten chicken raita? If not, then this recipe can prove to be completely new and fun for you.

This raita is a wonderful combination of cold curd, spicy chicken and crunchy vegetables. The special thing is that it contains protein in abundance, which makes it a healthy and filling meal. During summer, when you don’t feel like eating anything heavy, then this dish can be a great option.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams boneless chicken (cut into cubes)
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1-2 dry red chillies
  • 1 tbsp water
  • salt as per taste
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • lemon juice
  • a little olive oil
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1 small cucumber finely chopped
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • red chili powder or paprika
  • a pinch of black salt
  • Fenugreek seeds
  • Chili Garlic Crisps
  • 1 tsp butter
  • green coriander

How to make Chicken Raita

  • Make a thick paste by mixing garlic, dry red chilli, some water and salt. Now mix this paste in the chicken pieces. Add black pepper, some olive oil and lemon juice on top and let it marinate for 5 minutes.
  • After this, heat a pan and cook the chicken thoroughly until it becomes light golden.
  • Take curd in a big vessel. Add finely chopped cucumber, onion, salt, black pepper, red chili powder and black salt to it. Beat everything well so that the mixture becomes creamy.
  • Take out the curd mixture in a serving bowl. Add prepared chicken on top. Then add some Kasoori Methi and thinly chopped onions to give it a crunchy texture.
  • Now prepare the tempering by heating butter, chilli garlic crisps and a little paprika in a small pan. Pour it over raita. Finally serve by sprinkling green coriander or a little more Kasuri Methi.

Why is it special?

This chicken raita is completely different from the normal raita. In this, the coolness of curd, the sharpness of garlic and chilli, the protein of chicken and the wonderful taste of tadka come together. This is why it becomes a unique and tasty high-protein dish.
