Max Allegri has yet to reach an agreement with AC Milan to terminate his contract, a situation that has reportedly begun to frustrate Napoli, which is said to have set a firm deadline.

AC Milan dismissed Allegri a day after he failed to secure qualification for the Champions League. The club also parted ways with CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada.

Despite his dismissal, Allegri remains under contract until June 2027. He must formally end this deal by mutual consent before he can take up the managerial position at Napoli.

However, the process has proven to be more complicated than expected. Although earlier reports suggested that legal disputes had been resolved and both parties were ready to shake hands earlier this week, discussions have since stalled.

According to Calciomercato, the sticking point lies in Allegri’s demand for €2 million in compensation to end his contract early, plus an additional €3 million to cover severance for his coaching staff.

RedBird Capital owner Gerry Cardinale has reportedly refused to meet those financial demands, arguing that it makes little sense to pay such an amount to staff dismissed for failing to achieve their objectives.

Sport Mediaset reported that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is growing increasingly impatient with the situation and has set a seven-day deadline for resolution. If no agreement is reached within that timeframe, he is expected to start exploring alternative coaching options for the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

AC Milan Star Rafael Leao Sent Off

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao lost his composure during Portugal’s friendly match against Chile, receiving a red card for striking Ivan Roman in the face.

The incident occurred shortly before half-time in Oeiras, during a warm-up match ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Leao started the game, a rare occurrence recently as he had either been suspended or benched by Milan coach Max Allegri in the club’s last few fixtures.

In recent weeks, Leao has publicly expressed frustration with his situation at San Siro, indicating his desire for a new challenge in either the Premier League or LaLiga.

The friendly and the upcoming World Cup were expected to serve as opportunities for Leao to showcase his talent and boost his transfer value. Instead, the episode turned disastrous, highlighting attitude issues that have made Milan less eager to retain the winger.

The altercation began between Joao Cancelo and Faundez, but when Roman intervened, Leao rushed in to separate them and ended up striking the Chilean player. Both Leao and Roman were ultimately sent off following the chaotic scuffle.
