Vaibhav Suryavanshi: Indian cricket's young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created history at a very young age. When he was just 13 years old, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 1.1 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. With this he became the youngest player to be bought in IPL history. During the auction, there was a race to buy him between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals (DC). However, Rajasthan Royals won and included him in their team.
Getting a bid worth crores of rupees at such a young age is considered a big achievement for any player. But Vaibhav Suryavanshi's focus was not on money. In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav said that he was less happy about this and was more troubled by the question why only two teams bid for him. He said, "To be honest, when I was selected, the question that came to my mind was why only two teams had bid. I had performed well in the trials and I felt that other teams should have also bid for me."
Vaibhav's perspective changed with time. Now he considers being a part of Rajasthan Royals as one of the biggest achievements of his career. He said that in the last one and a half years, he felt that it was a privilege for him to be a part of a franchise like Rajasthan Royals. Vaibhav said, "Now I thank God a thousand times that I got a chance to be a part of a team like Rajasthan Royals."
The young batsman said that there is a family like atmosphere among the players and staff in Rajasthan Royals. According to him, the coach, support staff, players, management, media team, physio and trainers all behave like a family. He said, "Here it feels as if you are in your own home. You can talk openly to anyone and share your views."
Vaibhav told that the experienced players of the team constantly guide him. He said that senior players tell him what to do on the field, what to avoid and how to improve his game. According to Vaibhav, he gets a chance to learn something new every day in Rajasthan Royals.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut in IPL 2025 at the age of 14. In his very first match, he caught everyone's attention by hitting a six on the first ball. After this, he created a new record by scoring a century in just 35 balls in his third match.
IPL 2026 proved to be the most memorable season of Vaibhav Suryavanshi's career. He scored 776 runs in 16 matches at an impressive strike rate of 237 and maintained pressure on the opposition bowlers throughout the tournament. Due to his excellent performance, he also received the Orange Cap and 'Most Valuable Player' (MVP) award.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has given record-breaking performances at a young age, is being considered as the future of Indian cricket. His success in the IPL has made him one of the most talked-about young players in the country and more big performances are expected from him in the coming years.
