Iliman Ndiaye: Manchester City look to derail Manchester United’s pursuit of Everton star

Manchester United currently lack a natural left winger, a gap that Ineos will need to fill during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Several of Europe’s top wide players have already been linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford as United seek to strengthen that position.

Recently, reports indicated that the club could move for Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, a player widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s standout performers.

It is understood that Ndiaye has turned down multiple contract renewal offers from the Toffees. The Senegalese winger is pushing for a release clause that would allow him to leave as early as this summer, but Everton have been reluctant to agree to that condition.

This ongoing contract impasse has fueled speculation that a major club could step in with a substantial offer to secure his services.

However, just as attention turned to Ineos and their potential move to test Everton’s resolve over Ndiaye, new developments have emerged.

Transfer expert Sebastien Vidal has reported that “Manchester City are interested in Iliman Ndiaye to strengthen their attack this summer. Everton, meanwhile, may look to take advantage of that interest to generate a significant profit on the Senegal international and boost their own transfer budget.”

First it was Elliot Anderson, then Sandro Tonali, and now Ndiaye — Manchester City seem intent on interfering with Manchester United’s recruitment plans at every opportunity.

Fortunately for United, aside from Anderson, who reportedly prefers a move to the Etihad, both Tonali and Ndiaye are targets where the Red Devils can realistically compete with City.

In fact, convincing these players may even be easier for United, given that they could offer a more central role at Old Trafford than what might be available under Pep Guardiola.

Should United manage to outmanoeuvre City and persuade Everton to sanction Ndiaye’s transfer, his presence on the left flank could significantly enhance their attacking options. His dribbling prowess and ability to take on defenders would bring much-needed balance to United’s forward line, preventing opponents from focusing solely on neutralising Amad and Bryan Mbeumo on the right. If the move materialises, those two could benefit the most from Ndiaye’s arrival.
