Film icon Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham, the pop star-turned-fashion designer who is married to the football legend, are set to attend the ceremony on June 12, where the plaque honouring British midfielder David Beckham will be unveiled on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The event for the 51-year-old former England captain is scheduled just hours before the first match on U.S. soil in this year’s FIFA World Cup, which is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

“David Beckham’s recognition with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the Sports Entertainment category comes at a fitting moment as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup,” said Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

She added, “Beckham’s contribution to raising football’s profile in America and his enduring impact across sports, entertainment, and international culture make this tribute particularly significant.”

Throughout his illustrious club career, Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain before retiring from professional football in 2013.

In recent years, Beckham has taken on the role of co-owner of the American football club Inter Miami CF, which famously signed Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and went on to win the Major League Soccer Cup Championship last year.

Beckham, who was knighted by Britain’s King Charles III last year, has also made strides in the entertainment industry, co-founding the content production company Studio 99 in 2019.
