Many senior leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi will attend the meeting. However, the distance of some major allies before the meeting has given rise to new discussions in the opposition camp.
According to sources, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will not attend this meeting. At the same time, top leaders of Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK and Aam Aadmi Party are also expected to not attend. Many speculations are being made in political circles regarding the absence of these parties.
The main objective of the meeting is said to be to prepare a common strategy against the upcoming session of Parliament, various national issues and the central government. Opposition parties are preparing to corner the government on issues to inflation, unemployment, farmers’ issues and democratic institutions.
The Congress leadership believes that even if top leaders of some parties are not present in the meeting, the alliance’s commitment to opposition unity remains. Political eyes across the country are fixed on the meeting, because it may indicate the upcoming strategy of the opposition and the direction of the alliance. This meeting is being considered very important, especially in view of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections to be held in various states.
