After edging past New Zealand 1-0, England are set to conclude their World Cup warm-up fixtures with a friendly encounter against Costa Rica.

Harry Kane’s header right before half-time sealed England’s first victory of the summer, though the performance did attract some criticism from fans and pundits.

Thomas Tuchel will be hoping for a more convincing display against Costa Rica before England embark on their group stage campaign, where they face Croatia, Ghana and Panama.

The England vs Costa Rica match is scheduled to kick off at 9 pm BST on Wednesday, June 10, at the Inter&Co Stadium.

In the United Kingdom, the game will be broadcast live on ITV1, with pre-match coverage beginning at 8 pm.

Full radio commentary will also be available on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke were absent against New Zealand, having been granted additional rest following their involvement in the Champions League final.

The quartet have now joined up with the England squad in Florida, but it remains uncertain whether they will feature against Costa Rica.

Tuchel used two completely different lineups in each half of Saturday’s game against New Zealand and has indicated that certain players will get more minutes this time around.

The head coach is also likely to start a team close to the one expected to face Croatia in England’s World Cup opener.

Jude Bellingham, Reece James, Nico O’Reilly and Elliot Anderson will all be eager to earn starts after impressing in the second half against New Zealand.

Costa Rica, meanwhile, are not participating in this year’s World Cup. Their meeting with England will be their second friendly after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Colombia.

Midfielder Alejandro Bran and forwards Kenneth Vargas and Warren Madrigal were originally selected for both matches but have since been sent home, with the Costa Rican Football Federation citing disciplinary reasons.

Authorities in Costa Rica are currently investigating a reported shooting incident involving Bran’s vehicle, which was hit by multiple bullets outside a bar. The three players have denied any involvement in the altercation.

Veteran goalkeeper Keylor Navas is also absent, as the coaching staff look to identify a long-term successor to the 39-year-old legend.

England will aim to make it two wins in a row in their pre-World Cup fixtures and are strong favourites at 2/11 to defeat Costa Rica.

Costa Rica are priced at 18/1 to upset Tuchel’s team, while a draw is listed at 15/2.

England’s uninspired showing against New Zealand did little to boost confidence ahead of the World Cup, but with more time to adapt to the warm conditions, Tuchel is expected to field a stronger starting XI.

This fixture could be a key opportunity for several players to secure their place in the starting lineup for the World Cup opener. England to win both halves is available at odds of 6/5.

Costa Rica have failed to score in their previous two meetings with England, and Tuchel’s side are tipped to win without conceding, priced at 8/11.

Harry Kane, who scored the only goal against New Zealand, is 11/4 to open the scoring once again.

Marcus Rashford looked threatening in the New Zealand game and previously scored in England’s 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in 2018. He is 15/8 to find the net at any time.
