Apple has given the biggest upgrade to its virtual assistant Siri at WWDC 2026, giving it the new name “Siri AI”. Now it will not just be an assistant that answers questions, but will be able to do many things automatically by understanding the user's messages, photos, emails and information about apps. With the help of Apple Intelligence, Siri AI will be able to continuously talk like humans, make plans and complete complex tasks. Along with this, Apple has also introduced a new dedicated app and dynamic island integration for Siri AI. The Apple WWDC 2026 event was kicked off by CEO Tim Cook, where he gave a glimpse of the company's upcoming software and AI updates. During this period, many big features including iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and new Siri AI were announced.
Apple has officially rebranded Siri from the WWDC 2026 stage and named it Siri AI. According to the company, this new assistant is based on Apple Intelligence and can understand the user's personal context, preferences and capabilities of apps better than before. Apple Vice President Mike Rockwell said that Siri AI is now more capable than before and will help users find the information they need and accomplish more. The company claims that this is the same major upgrade which was first announced in 2024. Now Siri AI will not be limited to just answering questions, but will provide more useful help by understanding the needs of the user.
Apple told in its mega event that the biggest feature of Siri AI is its better conversation ability. Now users will be able to have a continuous conversation with Siri AI on any topic and will also be able to ask new questions in between. During the demo, the company showed that a user asked for information about the World Cup and then took the conversation further to get additional information. Siri AI will now be able to give longer and more detailed answers. According to the company, users can make complete plans for a trip, discuss creative ideas, take feedback on any document and do many other things. Apart from this, Siri AI has also got new and better voices, which will make the conversation experience more natural.
Apple has also introduced a new dedicated app for Siri AI. Through this app, users will be able to see their old conversations and previously received replies again. This feature will be available on iPhone as well as iPad and Mac devices. The company said that Mac and laptop users will be able to ask questions directly to Siri AI about the pictures and text on the screen. During the demo, Siri AI identified a place shown in an Instagram post and also told the way to reach there. It is clear from this that the new AI assistant will be more capable than before of understanding the content on the screen and providing help based on it.
At WWDC 2026, Apple also announced the second version of its Apple Foundation Model. According to the company, the new model can understand voice, read text and also analyze photographs. Apple says that Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into its platform, making many system-level AI features possible. Software chief Craig Federighi said that some companies are creating AI just to show off AI, while Apple's goal is to provide a useful and safe experience for the user. The company believes that Siri AI, built keeping personal data and privacy in mind, will prove to be more reliable and useful for users.
Apple has now integrated Siri AI deeper into the system. Now users will be able to activate Siri AI directly on Dynamic Island by swiping down, pressing the side button or saying “Hey Siri”. The company has also introduced a new Voice Engine for this, which will make Siri's voice sound more natural and human-like than before. During the initial setup, users will also be able to make small changes in the sound as per their choice. Apple says that Siri AI is no longer just an assistant that listens to commands but a digital assistant that will understand the context of the conversation and give better answers. The new interface has also been made more modern and easier to use.
In a demo at WWDC 2026, Apple showed that Siri AI can now work by understanding information between different apps. For example, Siri AI identified a famous place in a photo and suggested directions to reach there, and also found photos from recent family trips and added them to a shared album. In another demo, Siri AI extracted information about a dessert from message history, converted it into a party menu, and then drafted a message to send to contacts. Not only this, based on the information shared by the son in a message, Siri AI also prepared the entire email. This feature shows that the new Siri can work by creating better coordination between AI users' personal data and apps.
Apple has also introduced a new dedicated app for Siri AI. In this app, users will be able to scroll through their old conversations and start new conversations from there. All chat history will sync via iCloud, allowing conversations to continue seamlessly between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Siri AI has also been integrated with Spotlight search on Mac and now the help of Siri AI can be taken by right clicking on any file or window. Whereas Vision Pro users will get 3D visual interface of Siri AI, which they can place anywhere in their virtual space. It is clear from this that Apple is moving towards making Siri AI the center of its entire ecosystem.
