Steve Hilton, a former host at Fox News, has successfully moved on to the general election for the California governor's position, as projected by NBC News. He will compete against Xavier Becerra, who previously served as the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Hilton, representing the Republican Party, emerged from a competitive primary where candidates from various parties were listed on a single ballot, allowing the top two vote recipients to advance. As of the latest projections, with 88% of the anticipated votes counted a week post-election, Becerra, a Democrat, is leading with approximately 28% of the votes, while Hilton follows closely with around 25%. Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer is in third place with about 23%, and Republican Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco is the only other candidate to surpass the 10% mark, securing 10% of the votes.
