Tezzbuzz Desk- India is rapidly strengthening its presence in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Taking a big step in this direction, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has announced the establishment of its first AI-enabled data center in India. Meta has partnered with Reliance Industries for this ambitious project and this data center will be set up in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Under this project, Reliance Industries will build the data center and create infrastructure, while Meta will use it to operate its AI platform and services. In the initial phase, this data center will start with a capacity of 168 MW. Plans have also been made to further increase its capacity in future.
According to the information, this state-of-the-art AI data center can start operations within the next two years.
Meta has been making major investments in AI technology for a long time. The company is building infrastructure around the world to make its AI models and digital services more powerful. This center to be built in Jamnagar will support other AI based products of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta.
This project is also considered to be a part of Meta’s broader vision which the company is pursuing under the name of “Personal Super Intelligence”.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that it is a matter of pride for the company to set up the first AI data center in India. He said that this partnership with Reliance will help in expanding the global AI infrastructure and will give new strength to Meta’s investment in India.
In this project, Reliance Industries will provide all the necessary services during the entire lifecycle of the data center. This will include design, construction, network connectivity, energy management, renewable energy supply and full operational services.
Experts believe that the opening of this data center will give a new impetus to India’s AI ecosystem. This will promote high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure and AI research. Besides, new opportunities for employment and technical investment will also be created in the country.
This partnership between Meta and Reliance is being considered an important step towards making India a global AI hub.
