India on Wednesday condemned the attack on commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman, saying 21 of the 24 Indian crew members onboard have been rescued while three remain missing. The Ministry of External Affairs said the Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities in the ongoing search and rescue operation.
The MEA described the continuing attacks on shipping in the region as deeply worrying and linked them to the ongoing conflict in the region. India reiterated its call for immediate de-escalation, urged a diplomatic resolution to the crisis, and stressed that attacks on commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure must stop.
