A readers’ poll conducted a day after Paris Saint-Germain secured their Champions League double assessed the 2024-2026 PSG side against some of Europe’s most iconic teams of the 21st century.

Following PSG’s victory over Arsenal — a 1-1 draw after extra time followed by a 4-3 win on penalties in Budapest on 30 May — French sports daily L’Équipe invited supporters to rank the club’s achievements against other legendary European sides.

The team led by Luis Enrique was compared with Manchester City (2018-2024), Real Madrid (2016-2018), Bayern Munich (2011-2013), Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona (2008-2012), Manchester United (2007-2009), and Vicente del Bosque’s Real Madrid (1999-2003).

Out of nearly 12,000 votes, only two teams were considered superior to the PSG 2024-2026 squad — Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid, earning 56% of the votes, and Guardiola’s Barcelona, which topped the poll with 69%.

The remaining teams were rated significantly lower, including Real Madrid’s Galácticos, despite their Champions League triumphs in 2000 and 2002. The share of votes for each was: Manchester City 2018-2024 with 20.5%, Bayern Munich 2011-2013 with 23%, Manchester United 2007-2009 with 21%, and Real Madrid 1999-2003 with 31%.
