Valve's Steam Machine is one of the most anticipated hardware launches of the year, but its release date has slowly slipped further and further away as the price of computer hardware continues to remain more expensive than ever. However, the latest evidence has narrowed down Valve's planned release date to within the next few weeks, indicating we could have our hands on the device before June is out.
That's according to new evidence surfaced by Reddit user wayTooManyBugs. After digging through the Canadian FCC website, the user was able to find a bunch of listings for both the Steam Controller and the Steam Machine, and comparing the dates on both of them are very enlightening.
While most of the product listings were added to the site back in November 2025 after the hardware was first announced by Valve, it's the user manual listing that's most interesting. That was added to the FCC site after the Steam Controller launched with it posted to the site on May 20, 2026.
Switching over to the Steam Machine, we see a similar pattern with most of the original listings created back in 2025. The user manual isn't available yet, but it does have a date - June 29, 2026.
The Steam Frame is also listed on the FCC website, and its manual has a date of June 18, 2029.
The Reddit user's hypothesis is that if Valve is to follow a similar pattern when releasing the Steam Machine and Steam Frame as it did with the Steam Controller, we could have the latest hardware in our hands within the next couple of weeks.
"If these dates actually mean anything, then we can either expect Steam Frame and Machine to be released together around June 17th, or Machine releasing after Frame around June 27th," they write.
Some of the comments think this is pretty solid evidence that the Steam Machine is closer than we might think. "This some good stuff right here!," reads one comment.
Another adds: "This is some good shiz. Hopium administered." Meanwhile, a third writes: "Outstanding job bro. Post of the week."
However, other users are quick to point out that June 29 is also when a six month confidentiality agreement runs out between Valve and FCC.
It's possible that Valve could be aiming to either release ahead of this expiration date, or they could look to extend it.
What has Valve said about the Steam Machine release date?
In terms of official communication from Valve on the Steam Machine release date, the last we heard was that it's aiming to release both the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame 'this summer'.
This was essentially a delay from the 'first half of 2026' which is what the company was initially aiming for. However, the ongoing supply shortage of computer components due to the AI bubble has caused havoc with consumer pricing
As such, we still don't know how much these devices are going to sell for. Unfortunately, the current estimates place the Steam Machine as high as $1.300 to $1,500. That's especially the case given the recent price hikes to the Steam Deck.
With any luck, we might actually find out the answers to the Steam Machine price and release date in the next few weeks.
