India-A lost by DLS rule, Afghanistan-A won by 4 runs; Imran-Baheer hit fifty

The result of the match between India-A and Afghanistan-A is out. The match was played on 11 June at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla. Afghanistan won by 4 runs under DLS rules. Prabhsimran Singh, Rituraj Gaikwad and Tilak Verma scored half centuries for India A. For Afghanistan-A, Imran Mir and Bahir Shah also scored half-centuries and remained unbeaten.

 

Batting first, India A scored 349 runs losing 9 wickets in 49 overs. Whereas, in the second innings, Afghanistan batted well and maintained its composure. Afghanistan scored 177 runs losing 2 wickets in 25.5 overs. Later the match had to be stopped due to rain and Afghanistan A won by 4 runs under DLS method.

 

This match was the second match of the Tri-Nation A Series being held in Sri Lanka. After the defeat of India A, the team has slipped to second place in the points table, while Afghanistan has taken the top spot. Both currently have 2-2 points but Afghanistan’s net run rate is +0.155, while India’s is +0.053.

Rain interrupted the match several times

Rain had disrupted the game in the first innings itself. After which the match was reduced to 49-49 overs. In the first innings, India A scored 349 runs losing 9 wickets in 49 overs. Then when the second innings was about to start, it rained again. Due to this, Afghanistan-A got the target of 294 runs in 38 overs.

 

 

However, even during the second innings the rain did not stop and the match had to be stopped again. At that time Afghanistan-A was 3 runs ahead of the target as per DLS rules. Even after a long wait the game could not start again. Therefore the match was cancelled. After this, Afghanistan-A was declared the winner on the basis of DLS rule.

Indian batsmen were hit, bowlers flopped

India-A batsmen batted well against Afghanistan-A. In this match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out 6 runs away from his half-century. On the other hand, Prabhsimran Singh scored 84 runs, Rituraj Gaikwad and Tilak Verma both scored 66 runs. Whereas the Indian bowlers were not seen doing much wonders. Anukul Roy and Arshad Khan got only 1 wicket each.

 

Afghan players showed dominance

In the first innings of Team India, Abdullah Ahmadzai took 5 wickets for Afghanistan-A, while Farmanullah Safi took 3 wickets and captain Imran Mir took 1 wicket. The Afghan captain also dominated the batting and scored an unbeaten 75 runs. Whereas, Bahir Shah scored unbeaten 51 runs.
