Jurgen Klopp, who currently serves as the global head of football for the Red Bull group, is reportedly keen on bringing Rangers manager Danny Rohl into the Red Bull setup, with a view to appointing him as the next head coach of Red Bull Salzburg. The former Liverpool manager is said to be highly impressed by Rohl’s performance at Ibrox, and an official approach from Salzburg could soon follow.

The Red Bull football network’s managerial reshuffle has been moving quickly. After the recent appointment of Narcis Pelach at the Japanese club RB Omiya Ardija, attention has turned to Austria, where Red Bull Salzburg are in the market for a new coach following the exit of Daniel Beichler. According to German outlet Bild, Klopp, who oversees the football side of the Red Bull organisation, has identified Rohl as the prime candidate to take over and is eager for a swift appointment to stabilise the team’s progress.

At just 37 years old, Rohl is one of the most respected young coaches in European football. His previous experience as assistant to Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich and later with the German national team has given him a strong tactical foundation—qualities Klopp is eager to incorporate into the Red Bull system.

Since joining Rangers in October 2025 on a contract running until 2028, Rohl has earned praise for restoring stability to a club that had been struggling with inconsistency. Although an injury crisis late in the season affected their Scottish Premiership title challenge, his work has drawn attention across the continent. Despite his long-term deal in Glasgow, the influence of Klopp and the attraction of joining the Red Bull football family could tempt him to make the move.

Red Bull Salzburg are aiming to reclaim their dominance in Austrian football after a frustrating campaign that saw them finish third in the league. Beichler, who replaced Thomas Letsch in February, was unable to reverse the team’s poor form, culminating in a 3-1 loss to Hartberg. The result left Salzburg with their lowest league finish since the start of the Red Bull era, and they missed out on Champions League qualification.

Klopp’s interest in Rohl stems from the coach’s clearly defined footballing philosophy and his proven ability to nurture young players—qualities that align with Salzburg’s role as a key development hub within the Red Bull network. Reports indicate that initial contact has already been made with Rangers to gauge the feasibility and potential cost of a deal.

However, Rohl has previously expressed his satisfaction with life in Scotland. In a recent interview, he remarked, “My focus is here in Glasgow. I enjoy the job because it allows me to compete for titles domestically and in Europe. It’s a fantastic opportunity and one that I value greatly.”

This is not the first time Rohl has been associated with a position inside the Red Bull organisation. Last summer, he was reportedly on the shortlist for the RB Leipzig job, though the Bundesliga club ultimately opted to appoint Ole Werner. With Klopp now directing the search for a new manager at Salzburg, the chance for Rohl to re-enter the Red Bull structure could soon become a reality.
