Casualty could be waving goodbye to one of its cherished characters - leaving fans heartbroken. As viewers will be aware, Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) has been involved with Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius) for quite some time. Last week, however, Stevie chose to end their relationship - leaving Matty deeply frustrated.
In Saturday's episode (13th June) of the long-running BBC medical drama, it became apparent that Matty was struggling to accept Stevie's rejection, particularly after discovering that Stevie had gone for drinks and shared a candid conversation with her former partner Flynn Byron (Olly Mix) following the split.
At the hospital, Matty lashed out at Stevie, which raised suspicions from their colleague Dylan Keogh (William Beck). He pieced together the nature of Stevie and Matty's relationship. He also discovered that Matty had covered for Stevie when she previously gave a patient an overdose of morphine during an accident. Matty reassured Dylan that he would handle the matter himself and had everything under control, reports the Mirror.
Later, events took a dramatic twist when Stevie was called to Flynn's office. There, he delivered the shocking news that a complaint had been lodged against her for making a "near fatal" mistake.
He also revealed that the complaint concerned her allowing a junior member of staff to help conceal the incident, before disclosing that he was aware she had been in a sexual relationship with a staff member. Flynn continued by stating that this constitutes sexual coercion, leaving Stevie lost for words.
He then informed her that there would be an inquiry and that she was relieved of her duties for the day. A shell-shocked Stevie departed the office and caught Dylan's eye, his expression seemingly confirming he was behind the complaint.
Following the dramatic revelation, viewers now worry that Stevie's tenure at the hospital may be drawing to a close. On X, one viewer declared: "FFS DON'T GET RID OF STEVIEEEEEEE! ! ! ! !" (sic).
Another added: "If we lose Stevie because of Dylan, I'll never forgive him, I swear to god." A third chimed in: "WE CAN'T LOSE STEVIE NASH! ! ! !" Someone else declared, "Genuinely don't know how to take it. Stevie cannot leave."
Casualty airs every Saturday at 8:35pm on BBC One.
