If you also like to take long showers with hot water every day, then this habit can spoil the health of your hair. Yianni Tsapatori, hair stylist of celebrities like Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani and Deepika Padukone, has recently shared an important tip related to hair care. He says that washing hair with very hot water can damage the shine and strength of hair. During an interview, Yianni told that after washing hair, the last rinse should be done with cold or normal water. This makes the hair more soft, shiny and frizz-free. He believes that for good hair health, it is important to understand how hair grows and how its structure works.

Bathing with hot water may seem comfortable, but it can damage the outer layer of the hair i.e. the cuticle. The cuticle acts as a protective shield for the hair. When hair comes in contact with very hot water, this layer begins to peel off and the hair's natural moisture escapes. Because of this, hair starts appearing dry, lifeless and frizzy. According to experts, excessive heat can also weaken the keratin protein present in the hair, leading to hair breakage, split ends and loss of shine. At the same time, cold water helps in sealing the cuticle, due to which the hair remains moisturized and they look more smooth and shiny.
According to Yianni, beautiful and strong hair starts with a healthy scalp. Often people focus only on cleaning the length of the hair and ignore cleaning the scalp. While washing hair, the scalp should be massaged gently with finger tips. Using nails should be avoided, as it can damage the skin. This process helps in removing excess oil, dust, dirt and dead skin and also improves blood circulation. He also told that the nape area at the back of the head is often not cleaned. Cleaning this area thoroughly is also very important for scalp hygiene.

Hard water can also be a major reason behind poor quality of hair. Minerals like calcium and magnesium are found in large quantities in hard water. These minerals can accumulate on the hair and make it dry, lifeless and frizzy. If hard water is a problem in your area, filtered water or bottled water can be used for the final rinse. This reduces the accumulation of minerals on the hair and the texture of the hair remains better.
