Shubhman Gill achieved a major achievement on Saturday (June 14). The Indian captain played an unbeaten inning of 84 runs in 66 balls in the first ODI against Afghanistan in Dharamsala, which included 11 fours and 2 sixes. In this rain-affected match, the Afghan team was restricted to 194 runs in 24.5 overs when invited to bat first, which Team India easily chased in 22.5 overs thanks to Shubman’s innings.

There was a delay of 4.25 hours due to rain in Dharamshala, due to which the match was played in 25-25 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a brilliant innings of 102 runs in 51 balls but apart from him no other batsman could perform, due to which Afghanistan could not reach a huge score.

In the run chase, the Indian team lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma (16) early but Shubman and the rest of the batsmen did not give Afghanistan any chance to make a comeback. During this period, Shubman completed 3000 runs in ODI cricket. He became the number-1 Indian batsman in terms of reaching this milestone in the least number of innings.
