After a commanding victory against Curacao, Germany's head coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed that the equalizer from the debutants was unexpected. He emphasized that his team displayed the right level of intensity, although there are still areas for improvement as they face tougher opponents ahead.

In their inaugural World Cup match, Curacao made history with a goal from Livano Comenencia in the 21st minute. However, the experience and skill of the four-time champions quickly took over, leading to a resounding 7-1 victory in Houston, with standout performances from Kai Havertz and Deniz Udav.

Post-match, Nagelsmann remarked, "The start was fantastic, especially the first 15 minutes. We created numerous chances. The equalizer from Curacao was surprising, but it was impressive to see how our team responded to it."

"Curacao exceeded expectations and played with courage, which made it challenging. Scoring seven goals is no small feat, and we are pleased with the outcome. We are on the right track, but there is room for improvement as we anticipate tougher matches in the tournament," he added.

The coach noted the need for patience during the first half but praised the team's relentless intensity in the second half, highlighting that such performance will be crucial for their goal of adding a fifth star to their jersey.

"Germany has high expectations, while Curacao does not, which can complicate matters. At 1-1, we needed to remain patient, and the team is eager to give their all. If we maintain this intensity, we can have a successful tournament," he stated.

"This convincing win was essential for our confidence. It has always been there, but it has certainly grown. It was vital to demonstrate to the fans in Germany that we can deliver," he concluded.

Germany's upcoming challenge will be against the Ivory Coast in Toronto on Saturday.
