Despite trailing, India began to find their rhythm in the second quarter. Deepika initiated the comeback by scoring from a penalty corner in the 17th minute, narrowing the gap.
The momentum shifted further in India's favor when Deepika scored again from another penalty corner in the 24th minute, leveling the match at 2-2.
Before halftime, India completed their turnaround as Navneet Kaur converted a penalty corner in the 28th minute, giving India a 3-2 lead.
The second half was marked by intense competition, with both teams striving for additional goals. Each side earned six penalty corners throughout the match, but neither could capitalize further. India managed to maintain their lead in the final moments, securing a crucial three points to kick off their Nations Cup campaign successfully.
With this victory, India climbed to second place in Pool A, sharing three points with Japan, who leads on goal difference. India's next challenge will be against Japan in their second Pool A match on June 16 at 6:30 am.
