Nico Paz has been confirmed fit after recovering from injury and is ready to contribute to Argentina’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to BOLASPORT.COM, Argentina’s head coach Lionel Scaloni has provided the latest update on Nico Paz’s recovery process.
Argentina’s journey to defend their world championship title is about to begin. Lionel Scaloni has announced his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, the Albiceleste’s preparations had been overshadowed by concerns, as several key players were still battling injuries.
One of those players was Nico Paz.
The 21-year-old midfielder had suffered a left knee injury that forced him to miss Como 1907’s last two Serie A fixtures of the season.
To ensure his readiness, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) sent medical staff to Como to personally assess Paz’s condition.
Regarding the young midfielder’s recovery, Lionel Scaloni confirmed that the 186-centimetre-tall player is now in good condition.
The 48-year-old tactician emphasized that Paz’s injury has completely healed.
He is expected to be available from Argentina’s opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
“Nico Paz is fine. He’s available,” Scaloni said, as quoted by BolaSport.com from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
This news is a major boost for Argentina, as Paz has been one of the standout performers for his club this season.
Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the young midfielder recorded impressive statistics in Serie A, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists in 35 appearances.
Those numbers are remarkable for a midfielder who only made his top-flight debut this season after joining Como from Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.
Apart from his productivity, Nico Paz is also known for his creative vision, lethal free-kick ability, and precise passing accuracy.
His talent at the international level has also been proven. One of his most memorable moments came in March 2026, when he scored his debut goal for La Albiceleste through a stunning free-kick.
Argentina will head to the 2026 World Cup carrying enormous expectations as the reigning champions. Scaloni’s side has been drawn in Group J alongside Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
On paper, La Albiceleste are expected to cruise through the group stage as leaders. However, for Scaloni and his players, topping the group is merely a formality — their ultimate goal is crystal clear: to retain the World Cup crown.
