BANJARMASINPOST.CO.ID – Here is the broadcast schedule and airing time for the France vs Senegal match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, live on TVRI in the early hours of Wednesday.
The clash between France and Senegal will take place on Wednesday, June 17, at 02:00 WIB or 03:00 WITA.
The Group I World Cup 2026 match will be held at East Rutherford Stadium in New Jersey.
Fans can also watch the match via live online streaming on Folaplay and MAXStream.
In addition, public viewing (nobar) sessions will be organised for fans to enjoy the match together.
In South Kalimantan, several venues will host public viewing events, including the courtyard of TVRI South Kalimantan on Jalan A. Yani Km 6, Banjarmasin.
Numerous cafes across the region have received permission to hold 2026 World Cup screenings, including the France vs Senegal match.
Several police headquarters and local precincts in South Kalimantan are also regularly organising viewing sessions from evening until daytime.
For example, the Tabalong Police Department, in collaboration with community groups, has hosted such events.
The Tabalong Police held a viewing session in their main hall, involving the Laung Kuning Tabalong Organisation, the Tabalong KNPI, the RX-King Motorcycle Community, and police officers.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief of Tabalong Police, Commissioner Hasanuddin, along with department heads, unit chiefs, and representatives from the Youth and Sports Office of Tabalong Regency.
During the session, attendees watched the Group F World Cup 2026 match between Sweden and Tunisia together.
The match ended with Sweden triumphing 5–1 in an entertaining display.
Hoping to recreate their stunning 2002 victory against the favourites, Senegal will face France in the opening Group I encounter on Tuesday at East Rutherford.
The dethroned African champions famously stunned Les Bleus 1–0 over two decades ago, signalling the start of a rapid downfall for the reigning world champions at the time.
In World Cup betting forecasts, France ranks second behind Spain among tournament favourites. They are backed by many supporters to shake off the 2022 curse and guide head coach Didier Deschamps to another glory this summer.
Deschamps, the only man to win the World Cup as both player and manager, is set to hand over coaching duties to Zinedine Zidane after the 2026 edition — a tournament in which he could break the all-time managerial wins record.
Deschamps has achieved 14 World Cup match victories so far, and should France win all their group matches, he would surpass Helmut Schön’s record of 16 — a feat easier said than done.
Norway, featuring Erling Haaland, will also pose a significant challenge to France’s credentials. Yet, the 2018 champions dropped only two points in qualifying to reach their eighth consecutive finals; in four of their last seven appearances, Les Bleus have reached the final.
A 2–1 friendly defeat to Ivory Coast on June 4 raised doubts over France’s World Cup readiness.
However, inspired by Michael Olise, Les Bleus bounced back with a 3–1 win over Northern Ireland just four days later — marking the ninth time in ten games they have scored more than one goal.
Senegal, unbeaten in their World Cup qualification campaign, are now making their third consecutive finals appearance, having exited in the last 16 in 2022 and the group stage in Russia.
The Lions of Teranga lifted the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations trophy between those two campaigns and may still be crowned continental champions again in 2025 if the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturns CAF’s ruling that favoured Morocco.
Since their symbolic ‘win’ over the Atlas Lions in the AFCON final, Pape Thiaw’s squad has defeated Peru and Gambia in friendlies.
Yet, their preparations ended disappointingly with a 3–2 loss to co-host USA followed by a goalless draw with Saudi Arabia.
The latter result ended Senegal’s 17-match unbeaten streak across all competitions but also marked their fifth clean sheet in seven outings — a solid record for the Lions of Teranga, whose coach shares fond World Cup memories involving France.
Indeed, Thiaw was part of the Senegal squad that defeated Les Bleus in Seoul 24 years ago, though he watched from the bench as the late Papa Bouba Diop scored the only goal.
France were briefly unsettled by reports that Arsenal defender William Saliba might miss the entire tournament after aggravating a back injury in the Champions League final.
Those fears have since eased, with Saliba returning to full training ahead of Tuesday’s match.
Defender Jules Koundé is also fit despite picking up a muscle issue in the win over Northern Ireland.
Goalkeeper Mike Maignan skipped training on Saturday for workload management reasons but suffered no serious injury.
Leading the formidable front line, Kylian Mbappé enters the World Cup with 56 goals for France, just one short of Olivier Giroud’s all-time national record set in Qatar.
One of these two is expected to finish as France’s top scorer, with Mbappé set for a direct duel against Senegal’s talismanic forward Sadio Mané — fully fit this time after missing the 2022 World Cup through injury.
Thiaw’s squad has a few minor injury concerns, with Assane Diao skipping training earlier in the week due to bruising.
Cherif Ndiaye also missed Saturday’s session for undisclosed reasons, while Everton veteran Idrissa Gueye did not complete full training as a precaution.
None of the three are major concerns, although Ndiaye is likely to lose his starting place to Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson despite the latter’s red card against Saudi Arabia.
Probable France Starting XI:
Maignan; Koundé, Saliba, Upamecano, T. Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Olise, Doue, Mbappé; Dembélé
Probable Senegal Starting XI:
Mendy; Diatta, Koulibaly, Niakhate, Diouf; Camara, P. Gueye; Sarr, Diarra, Mané; Jackson
