Persib Bandung midfielder Marc Klok has expressed his support for the Netherlands national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, though he also enjoys watching teams from other countries compete.
Klok did not hesitate to mention that he still appreciates and supports the footballing styles of Morocco, France, and Spain.
“When it comes to the World Cup, I support the Netherlands, but I also enjoy watching matches from teams like Morocco, France, and Spain. I like their games and support them as well,” Klok said, as quoted on Persib’s official website.
Klok’s enthusiasm for the world’s biggest football tournament goes beyond watching it on television.
The midfielder, who wears jersey number 23, plans to travel to the United States to experience the electric atmosphere of the matches first-hand in the stadiums.
Although he did not specify which match he intends to attend, Klok revealed that he will be heading to Miami next week.
“I will be going to Miami and will also watch one World Cup match live next week,” he added.
In the recent match, both teams shared the spoils after a thrilling 2-2 draw. The Netherlands’ goals came from Virgil van Dijk (50’) and Crysencio Summerville (64’), while Japan equalized through Keito Nakamura (57’) and Daichi Kamada (89’).
The result temporarily gave the Netherlands an opportunity to top Group F at the 2026 World Cup after Summerville’s goal in the 64th minute restored their lead.
However, a resilient Japan fought back once again, replicating the same determination they showed fourteen minutes earlier, to secure a valuable point.
The match began cautiously as both sides adopted a measured approach at Dallas Stadium.
The game finally opened up when Virgil van Dijk headed home from a Ryan Gravenberch cross to give the Netherlands the lead.
Japan, who famously defeated Germany and Spain at Qatar 2022, quickly responded after conceding, maintaining their reputation as giant-killers on the world stage.
