A temporary ban has been imposed on Telegram till June 22 to curb rumors of cheating and question paper leaks surrounding the re-examination of NET UG 2026. The question is raised, why was Mater messaging app exempted even after the ban came down on Telegram?
Needless to say, both apps are popular. Performance is almost the same. But WhatsApp has been spared. To understand this, it is necessary to talk about the whole matter. It is known that Telegram channels with names like ‘Paper Leaked Lit’, ‘Re-Knit 2026’, ‘Re Knit Mafia’ were publicly promising to get the exam papers. And demands ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.10,000 have been made from the candidates. Now if all these groups and telegrams are banned, those behind it can come to WhatsApp and do the same. However, no such action has been taken against WhatsApp.
Actually there are two app images behind it. From the beginning, Telegram did not follow the path of cooperation with the government, which WhatsApp or X did. Telegram lags on another issue. Meta on WhatsApp uses a variety of AI tools to monitor user patterns. WhatsApp, however, does not directly see users’ conversations or what they have shared. But in this way they conduct regular monitoring, so that no one can use the platform to do any kind of illegal activities. Public groups are particularly scrutinized. This is why fraud or cybercriminals prefer Telegram! And this is why the government has not banned WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, the NTA informed that a multi-layered security framework is being developed to secure the examination process, the first step of which is to keep the question paper makers separate. Every stage from preparation and translation of the question paper to checking, printing, packaging, transportation and reaching the hands of the candidates will be subjected to strict scrutiny.
