Tezzbuzz Desk- Tanning is a common problem in summer, to avoid which people use sunscreen. But sometimes even after applying sunscreen regularly, the skin gets tanned. Why does this happen? According to dermatologists, many small but important mistakes are responsible for this.
Tanning of the skin occurs when ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun increase the amount of melanin in the skin. This melanin makes the skin dark. If tanning is not treated in time, it can persist for a long time.
According to dermatologists, there can be many reasons for tanning despite applying sunscreen:
Often people apply too little sunscreen, due to which the skin is not completely protected.
Applying sunscreen once is not effective for the whole day. It is important to reapply every 2–3 hours, especially after sweat or contact with water.
If SPF and PA are not according to your skin type and intensity of sunlight, tanning may occur.
According to Dr. Vijay Singhal (Senior Consultant Dermatology, Shri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi)—
Due to these mistakes, UV rays reach the skin and tanning increases.
Sunscreen is the most important part of tanning prevention, but using it correctly is just as important. Choosing wrong quantity, wrong time and wrong SPF does not keep the skin completely protected. The problem of tanning can be reduced to a great extent by adopting the right skincare routine.
