Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Shri Anand Bardhan held a meeting with all the District Magistrates through video conferencing on Thursday and reviewed the progress of TB Free India Campaign. During this, he expressed his displeasure over the slow pace of the campaign in some districts. The Chief Secretary directed that adverse entries should be given to the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the districts where the general test assessment rate of patients has been less than 60 percent.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that there is a need to take forward the TB Free India campaign in the state at a faster pace. He directed all the districts that the process of general examination and assessment of patients should be completed 100 percent within the next one week. He directed to run the campaign especially giving priority to high sensitivity and at risk villages.
The Chief Secretary directed to conduct daily reviews at the DG Health level to ensure effective monitoring of the campaign. He said that special attention should be paid to the districts where the number of screening is less. All Chief Medical Officers were also instructed to increase screening and achieve better results by setting clear targets for the campaign.
Maternal health services were also reviewed in the meeting. The Chief Secretary said that to strengthen antenatal care, special attention should be paid to increasing registration in the first trimester of pregnancy. This will enable timely identification and better management of high-risk pregnancies. He directed the officials to identify high-risk pregnancies and ensure their proper treatment and monitoring. Also, necessary steps should be taken to increase the number of ANC (Anti Natal Checkup) tests in all the districts.
The Chief Secretary said that adequate arrangements for birth waiting homes should be ensured in all the districts. If necessary, one stop centers of the Women and Child Development Department can also be used. He directed that in view of the monsoon season, high-risk pregnant women living in remote and inaccessible areas should be shifted to birth waiting homes in time, so that any kind of complication can be avoided during delivery.
The Chief Secretary said that identification and management of high-risk pregnant women and high-risk mothers after delivery should be strengthened. This will help in reducing preventable maternal mortality and improve the quality of maternal health services.

Fanai, Special Principal Secretary Mr. Amit Sinha, Secretary Mr. Shailesh Bagauli, Mr. Nitesh Jha, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Mr. Chandresh Kumar Yadav, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Shri Vinay Shankar Pandey, Dr. S.N. Pandey, Shri Vinod Kumar Suman, Commissioner Shri Deepak Rawat, Shri Anand Swaroop and District Magistrates of various districts were present.
