In view of the upcoming elections in Uttarakhand, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign is progressing rapidly to make the voter list more accurate and transparent. In this sequence, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam held a meeting with representatives of recognized national political parties at the Secretariat on Thursday to review the progress of the campaign and called for cooperation.

Various aspects related to voter list revision were discussed in the meeting. The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to the political parties to cooperate with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the field level and ensure identification of eligible voters.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the work of distribution of counting forms in the state has been completed to the extent of 99 percent. Along with this, about 20 percent of the calculation forms have also been digitized so far. He has instructed all the District Election Officers (DEOs) to complete the digitization work as per the set target every day within the stipulated time limit, so that the process of updating the voter list can be completed on time.
Dr. Purushottam informed that so far 76,754 voters have been identified in the ASDD category during the field verification of BLOs during the special campaign that started from June 8. He urged the political parties that their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) should cooperate with the BLOs in the identification and verification of these voters before July 7. Its purpose is to ensure that no eligible voter is inadvertently left out of the voter list.
According to the Election Department, a special intensive vetting process will be completed considering July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. After this, the draft voter list will be published on 14 July 2026. There will be an opportunity to lodge claims and objections from 14th July to 13th August 2026.
